After accusations that the BJP was attempting to appropriate Congress leaders such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, BR Ambedkar, Subhash Chandra Bose and Narasimha Rao, the grand old party has sought to do the same with former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
