States won’t need to pay for grain subsidy under NFSA

From January 2023, over half a dozen states won’t have to pay extra from their coffers to make subsidised foodgrain under NFSA available to the poor at a minimal price or for free. There will also be no room for them to take the credit of the scheme, which has so far been mainly funded by the Centre, as the government has announced to bear the entire cost of the foodgrain and provide them for free to over 81 crore poor.
